$189.99
Pick a wired CarPlay receiver like the Pioneer DMH-1800NEX, Kenwood DMX4710S or Alpine iLX-W670-M if you are fine plugging the phone in and want the lowest price for the feature. Pick a wireless one like the Alpine iLX-W770, Pioneer DMH-W3000NEX, Kenwood DMX5710S or JVC KW-M695BW if you want the phone to stay in your pocket. Step up to the Alpine iLX-507, Kenwood Excelon DMX809S or DMX958XR, or JVC KW-M875BW for a sharper screen, higher preamp voltage and more camera inputs when you plan to add amps.
Wired CarPlay and Android Auto run through a USB cable and charge the phone while you drive. Wireless connects over Wi-Fi when you get in the car, so short trips are easier. Every wireless model in this table also takes a USB connection per its listing, except the Pioneer DMH-W3050NEX, whose listing does not say.
Every receiver here is a double-DIN model on our listings. We are an authorized Alpine and Pioneer dealer, and we install in our own bay at 8696 Atlantic Ave, often the same day.
This table is built only from our own product listings. Where a listing does not state a spec, the cell says so instead of guessing.
Brands list power different ways, some as RMS and some as max, so compare loosely. Preamp voltage matters only if you add an amplifier: a higher voltage sends the amp a stronger, cleaner signal.

The BOSS Audio BE7ACP is the budget pick: a 7-inch capacitive screen, wired CarPlay and Android Auto and Bluetooth, with no CD or DVD drive. The Pioneer DMH-1800NEX and DMH-2000NEX use a 6.8-inch capacitive screen; the 2000NEX adds 4V preamps, built-in HD Radio and iDatalink Maestro compatibility.
The Kenwood DMX4710S has a sharper 1024 x 600 screen and a rear camera input with parking guidelines. The Alpine iLX-W670-M mounts only 2.4 inches deep with three 4V preamp outputs, which helps in a shallow dash or a build that will add an Alpine amp.
The Alpine iLX-W770 adds wireless CarPlay and Android Auto to the same 2.4-inch-deep design, with two camera inputs. The Pioneer DMH-W3000NEX and DMH-W3050NEX sit on an L-shaped 2-DIN chassis that leaves more room behind the dash for wiring and modules; the W3050NEX adds a built-in HD Radio tuner.
The Kenwood DMX5710S pairs a 1024 x 600 screen with a short chassis and built-in Wi-Fi. The JVC KW-M695BW has a built-in hands-free microphone and a short chassis, and the KW-M785BW adds an HDMI input, front and rear camera inputs and 4V preamps in a chassis 75 mm deep.
The Alpine iLX-507 has a 7-inch 1280 x 720 HD screen, three 4V preamp outputs, a 13-band parametric EQ per channel, HDMI in and out and two camera inputs. The Kenwood Excelon DMX809S has 5V preamps and a 3-way network mode with crossovers and time alignment, about 75 mm deep.
The JVC KW-M875BW has 5V preamps, a USB-C port that charges at up to 3A and three camera inputs. The Kenwood Excelon Reference DMX958XR has a 6.75-inch 720p HD screen, three 5V preamp outputs, four camera inputs and LDAC Hi-Res wireless audio, in a chassis under 3.5 inches deep.
A new receiver also needs the right dash kit, wiring harness and antenna adapter for your car, and often a steering wheel control adapter or an iDatalink Maestro module to keep factory features. Some cars cannot take an aftermarket radio at all. Pick your year, make and model in Shop by vehicle to see your dash opening and the parts we list for it, and Tony confirms the fit before you buy.

Car audio: send the year, make, and model, and Tony gets back to you with what fits and a price. DJ gear: tell Joe the room or the party, like "backyard party, 150 people" or "starter DJ setup," and he will put a setup together.
Pick the radio around your car and how you use your phone, not around the biggest screen on the wall. Decide wired or wireless, figure out what shape your dash allows, and plan to keep your steering wheel buttons and factory features. Then we confirm the exact parts for your vehicle before anything comes apart.
Read itFrom $100 to $250, you get a Bluetooth receiver for a single-DIN dash, like the JVC KD-X280BT or Alpine UTE-73BT, or the BOSS Audio BE7ACP with wired CarPlay. From $250 to $500, you get a double-DIN touchscreen with wired CarPlay, like the Kenwood DMX4710S or Pioneer DMH-1800NEX, or wireless CarPlay, like the JVC KW-M785BW or Alpine iLX-W770. From $500 to $1,000 come HD screens, more camera inputs and features like built-in GPS. At $1,000 and up are the 9- to 11-inch floating screens. Every price in this guide is the listed price on the product page.
Read itFor most cars, the simple setup is a receiver with a camera input plus the Kenwood CMOS-230LP1, which Kenwood lists as working with most aftermarket receivers that have a camera input. For a sharper picture, the Kenwood CMOS-740HDLP shoots 1280 x 720 HD, but it connects through HD-TVI and works only with select Kenwood receivers that support HD cameras. If you also want a front or side camera, pick a receiver with more than one camera input, like the JVC KW-M875BW, Kenwood DMX958XR or Alpine iLX-F509.
Read itIf you take a lot of short trips, yes: the phone connects over Wi-Fi when you get in. Every wireless receiver in our table also works wired over USB, except the Pioneer DMH-W3050NEX, whose listing does not say. If you always plug in to charge anyway, a wired model like the Pioneer DMH-1800NEX or Kenwood DMX4710S costs less.
In our listings, the Alpine iLX-507 has a 1280 x 720 HD screen and the Kenwood Excelon Reference DMX958XR a 720p HD screen. The Kenwood DMX4710S and DMX5710S use 1024 x 600 screens.
The Alpine iLX-W670-M and iLX-W770 mount 2.4 inches deep, and the JVC KW-M785BW and Kenwood Excelon DMX809S are about 75 mm deep. Several others are listed as short chassis. Tony confirms the depth for your car.
Usually a dash kit, a wiring harness and an antenna adapter, plus a steering wheel control adapter or iDatalink Maestro module on many cars. Shop by vehicle shows the parts we list for your car.
