Car Audio & DJ Equipment Near Downey

If you are looking for car audio or DJ equipment near Downey, you are practically next door. DJ Custom Audio is at 8696 Atlantic Ave, South Gate, CA 90280, roughly 3.3 miles from the city of Downey by car, which works out to about 6 minutes without traffic. We do not have a branch in Downey and we do not do mobile installs. What we offer Downey customers is one well-stocked South Gate counter where the same team handles car audio and DJ equipment.

Downey is its own incorporated city in Los Angeles County, and its drivers know the routine: long commutes, freeway noise and a factory stereo that was never great to begin with. Coming from the Gateway Cities (Southeast LA County) area, you head west to reach us.

Car audio

Downey drivers come to us for car audio installation and gear. The work includes speaker upgrades, which fix muddy factory sound more than anything else; full sound systems, planned around your car and budget; backup cameras and dash cams, for safer parking and a record of the road; alarms and remote start (Viper only), for security and a cool cabin on hot days; and GPS and lighting, to round out the build. Because you are so close, it is easy to drop off a car and pick it up the same day.

We're an authorized JL Audio and Alpine dealer, and we also carry Kicker, Focal and Pioneer. A lot of installs get done the same day. Trucks, boats and Can-Am powersports are welcome along with daily drivers. Tony keeps the bay focused on sound, security, cameras and lighting, done right the first time.

DJ equipment

If you DJ, run sound for a church, or are putting together a system for a family party in Downey, we sell the equipment to do it. We stock microphones and wireless systems, fog, haze and bubble effects, amps and processing, DJ controllers, turntables and media players, cables and accessories, cases and stands and subwoofers, and powered speakers, lighting (wash, moving heads, lasers) and mixers. Our DJ and pro audio lines are Mackie, QSC, Technical Pro, Chauvet, JBL, Shure, RCF, Electro-Voice, ADJ and Pioneer DJ. Common Downey requests: a first controller and speakers, a bigger PA for a growing church, or lighting to finish a setup.

Not sure where to start? Ask about our equipment packages: a DJ lighting kit, a quinceañera or wedding party system and a starter DJ setup are popular picks. Everything here is for sale: no rentals, no DJs for hire, and no DJ equipment repair. Joe will help you set up your gear and get Serato running before you leave.

The drive

DJ Custom Audio is about 3.3 miles from Downey by road (3.2 miles in a straight line), and the shop is west of Downey. Without traffic the drive takes about 6 minutes; rush hour can add a lot more, so check your maps app before you leave. The quickest route from Downey stays on surface streets, mainly Firestone Boulevard.

The last stretch brings you to Atlantic Avenue at Firestone Boulevard in South Gate. The shop is at 8696 Atlantic Ave, South Gate, CA 90280, next to the 7-Eleven. Parking is on site, and a shopping center sits across the street, so you can grab food while an install is underway.

Why make the drive

There are good reasons Downey customers shop in person with us. You can hold a DJ controller or mixer, test a wireless mic, and compare powered speakers side by side. You can hear the difference between speakers and subs on our demo displays before you spend a dollar. You get an honest recommendation, including when a cheaper option is the right call. You can reserve gear by phone and pick it up at the counter, so nothing is sold out when you arrive.
