The usual route from East San Gabriel uses I-10 (San Bernardino Freeway) and I-710 (Long Beach Freeway), then surface streets such as Walnut Grove Avenue and Firestone Boulevard for the final miles.

You will end up at Atlantic Avenue and Firestone Boulevard. Pull into the lot next to the 7-Eleven at 8696 Atlantic Ave, South Gate, CA 90280; parking is on site, and there is a shopping center across the street.
