Side by side
This table is built only from our own product listings. Where a listing does not state a spec, the cell says so instead of guessing.
Power is RMS as each listing states it. Sensitivity is as the listing gives it; a higher number plays louder on the same power, which matters most on factory radio power. Mounting depth tells you whether the speaker clears the window or the door.

Coaxials for factory radio power
The most efficient 6x9s in our table are the Infinity Kappa 693M at 94 dB, the Hertz CX 690 at 93.5 dB, and the JBL Club 964M, JBL Stage3 9637F and JL Audio C2-690TX at 93 dB. The Infinity and JBL pairs are 3-ohm designs, per their listings. Kicker's DS, CS and KS 6x9 coaxials list 92 dB, as do the Pioneer TS-A693FH and Focal ACX 690.
For tight doors, the JL Audio C1-690X needs 2.75 inches of depth and the Pioneer TS-A693FH 2-7/8 inches, and the Pioneer comes with multi-fit adapters.
Component sets and truck kits
A component set separates the tweeter so it can go up front for a better stage. The JL Audio C1-690 takes 60 W RMS with flush or surface tweeters, the Alpine S2-S69C uses 3-inch midranges with built-in tweeters, and the Kicker CS 46CSS694 has a 0, 3 or 6 dB tweeter level switch. The Alpine R2-S69C, Kicker KS 47KSS6904 and Pioneer TS-D69C round out the list.
The JL Audio CF-690-RTG is a custom-fit component system for factory locations in select Ram, Toyota and GM trucks, with 6x9 woofers and 2.75-inch midtweeters. JL recommends 50 to 150 watts per channel, so plan on an amp; see our 4-channel amp comparison. The shop confirms your truck first.

6.5-Inch Car Speakers Compared: Coaxial vs Component from JL Audio, Alpine, Kicker, Focal, Hertz and Pioneer
Pick a coaxial pair like the Pioneer TS-G1620F, Kicker DS 43DSC6504 or JL Audio C1-650X for a simple drop-in upgrade on a factory radio. Pick a high-sensitivity pair like the Focal ICU 165 or ISU 165 if you are keeping the factory radio and want more volume from it. Pick a component set like the JL Audio C2-650, Kicker KS 51KSS6504 or Alpine R2-S65C when you can mount the tweeters up high and plan to add an amplifier.
Read it3.5, 4 and 5.25-Inch Car Speakers Compared: Dash and Door Upgrades from JL Audio, Alpine, Kicker, Focal, JBL and Pioneer
Small speakers fill the dash, pillars and smaller doors, and factory ones in those spots often sound thin. On our listings there are 3.5-inch speakers from Pioneer, Kicker, Alpine and JL Audio, 4-inch from Pioneer, JBL, JL Audio, Alpine and Focal, and 5.25-inch from Kicker, JBL, Alpine, JL Audio, Focal and Infinity. Mounting depth matters most in a dash, so it is in the table where the listing gives it. Several listings note they run well on receiver power, such as the JBL Club 44F and 54F and the Pioneer TS-G1020S. The JL Audio C7-350cm and Alpine BRV-S40C are meant for amplified, DSP-tuned systems.

Trucks and Jeeps have little room for a regular sub box, and their factory speaker spots are odd shapes. Vehicle-specific parts are built for those spots. On our listings, Kicker L7T boxes fit behind or under the seat in select Silverado, Sierra, F-150, Super Duty, Ram and Tacoma trucks, with one for the Wrangler tailgate. Alpine PSS systems replace every speaker in a 2015-and-newer F-150 Crew Cab, with a version for each factory audio package, and Alpine's Jeep kits are weather resistant for top-off driving. JL Audio Custom-Fit 6x9s and midtweeters fit factory spots in many Ram, Toyota and GM trucks. Cab, year and factory audio decide the fit, so Tony confirms your vehicle first.

Which 6x9 speakers work best on a factory radio?
