Car Audio & DJ Equipment Near Crenshaw

From Crenshaw, our South Gate store is about 11.0 miles by road, roughly 16 minutes in light traffic. It is one counter, one address (8696 Atlantic Ave, South Gate, CA 90280), and a team that does both car audio and DJ equipment. To be clear about how we work: DJ Custom Audio has a single store at 8696 Atlantic Ave, South Gate, CA 90280. Crenshaw customers drive in, and we make that trip worth it with gear on display, installs in our bay and straight answers.

Plenty of our customers come from Crenshaw and other Los Angeles neighborhoods, usually with a daily driver that deserves better sound. Crenshaw is in the South Bay & South LA area; our shop is east of Crenshaw.

Car audio

Crenshaw drivers come to us for car audio installation and gear. The work includes GPS and lighting, to round out the build; backup cameras and dash cams, for safer parking and a record of the road; alarms and remote start (Viper only), for security and a cool cabin on hot days; speaker upgrades, which fix muddy factory sound more than anything else; and head units with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, so maps, calls and music run through a proper screen instead of a phone mount. For customers coming this far, we suggest calling ahead so the install bay is ready when you arrive.

We're an authorized JL Audio and Alpine dealer, and we also carry Kicker, Focal and Pioneer. A lot of installs get done the same day. Bought something online already? We install customer-supplied gear too. Daily drivers, work trucks, boats and Can-Am machines all come through the bay. We stick to sound, security, cameras and lighting, and we only put in gear we trust.

DJ equipment

The other half of the shop is DJ and pro audio equipment for sale, and a lot of Crenshaw buyers come for it. We stock subwoofers, turntables and media players, cables and accessories, mixers, fog, haze and bubble effects, lighting (wash, moving heads, lasers), powered speakers and amps and processing, and cases and stands, DJ controllers and microphones and wireless systems. Brands we carry include ADJ, Mackie, Chauvet, Pioneer DJ, Electro-Voice, JBL, QSC, Technical Pro, Shure and RCF. Common Crenshaw requests: a first controller and speakers, a bigger PA for a growing church, or lighting to finish a setup.

We also put together equipment packages, such as a quinceañera or wedding party system, a DJ lighting kit or a backyard party PA, so you walk out with gear that works together. We sell DJ gear only: no rentals, no DJs for hire, and no DJ equipment repair. Ask Joe on the DJ side about setup and software like Serato; he works with this gear himself.

The drive

DJ Custom Audio is about 11.0 miles from Crenshaw by road (8.4 miles in a straight line), and the shop is east of Crenshaw. Without traffic the drive takes about 16 minutes; rush hour can add a lot more, so check your maps app before you leave. The usual route from Crenshaw uses I-105 (Century Freeway), then surface streets such as Otis Street and Firestone Boulevard for the final miles.

The last stretch brings you to Atlantic Avenue at Firestone Boulevard in South Gate. The shop is at 8696 Atlantic Ave, South Gate, CA 90280, next to the 7-Eleven. Parking is on site, and a shopping center sits across the street, so you can grab food while an install is underway.

Why make the drive

There are good reasons Crenshaw customers shop in person with us. You can see how a head unit screen will look, and ask whether it fits your dash. You can hear the difference between speakers and subs on our demo displays before you spend a dollar. You talk to the people who will actually install your system, not a call center. You can reserve gear by phone and pick it up at the counter, so nothing is sold out when you arrive.
